International friendlies: Beister, Besic and Sala all winners
Seven HSV players were in action for their respective countries this week, and as always returned to Hamburg having had differing fortunes. ![]() HSV youngsters Maximilian Beister, Muhamed Besic and Jacopo Sala returned from international duty victorious. While Beister bagged a brace of goals during the German under-21's 6-1 demolition of their Argentinian counterparts, was in the starting line-up and substituted after 58 minutes, Sala was also onto a winner as his Italian under-21s beat Holland 3-0. The Rothosen youngster played for the whole of the second half. Besic was brought on after 63 minutes in Bosnia and Herzegovina's 2-0 victory.
Keeper Jaroslav Drobny was not used during the Czech Republic's goalless draw with Ukraine. Three further Rothosen suffered defeat on their travels: Marcus Berg and Sweden lost 0-3 to Brazil. The HSV goal-getter was taken off after 72 minutes. New signing Artjoms Rudnevs was substituted on 63 minutes as Latvia went down 0-2 to Montenegro. Ivo Ilicevic played no part in Croatia's 2-4 defeat to Switzerland. The internationals reported back to training in Hamburg yesterday, to continue preparation for Sunday's DFB Cup round one away trip to Karlsruhe. |
