Season Bundesliga 13.02.2013
Cooking for a worthy cause

On Monday (11.02.2013) around 500 invited business guests, along with HSV players and  officials attended the annual business meeting at the Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg. One of the topics on the agenda was the presentation of charity projects from Hamburger Weg.

HSV invited around 500 business customers to an annual meeting at the Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg on Monday (11.02.2013). Also in attendance were players and officials of the club. After an introductory speech by HSV board chairman Carl Jarchow, aid projects from Hamburger Weg were presented, aimed to support people in need in the city: "Footballers play a slightly unusual role in society, so it goes without saying that we like to help people worse off than ourselves", explained HSV defender Dennis Aogo on behalf of his team mates.

Those words soon became deeds. After the players had stood in the kitchen of the Grand Elysées cooking delicious dishes for the business guests, their aprons were auctioned off. They raised an impressive sum of 3,000 Euro which went to the local children's hospice Sternenbrücke. Then head coach Thorsten Fink, captain Heiko Westermann, keeper René Adler and Rafael van der Vaart took to the stage to discuss football matters which everyone enjoyed, especially after just having beaten Bundesliga champions and DFB Cup holders Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in their own back yard! For everyone present it was an event worth attending, and it raised money for a worthy cause which is always a good thing.
