HSV extend Calhanoglu contract until 2018

HSV announced this week that they have agreed terms with midfield talent Hakan Calhanoglu, on a premature extension of his current contract by a further two years.

It is not all doom and gloom at HSV. The club has announced the premature extension of the current contract of young Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu. His current contract had been due to expire on June 30th 2016. Now that deal ends on June 30th 2018. Club sporting director Oliver Kreuzer said: "We are delighted that we have managed to tie such a talented player like Hakan to the club long term. The premature extension is an indication of our ambitions over coming years."

The young Turk is also happy. He told HSV.de: "I have always said that I feel at home in Hamburg with HSV. I want to play for the club in the Bundesliga for many years to come and will work hard to become an integral part of the team. I also wanted to send a positive signal during our current situation."

The Mannheim-born youngster joined the Rothosen from Karlsruhe SC in August 2012, only to be loaned out to them again immediately. Calhanoglu was instrumental in KSC winning promotion to Bundesliga 2, scoring 17 goals that season (12 assists). This season the midfielder has been working hard for HSV, chipping in with five goals so far and also has two assists to his name. On September 6th 2013 he made his senior debut for the Turkish national team against Andorra.
