12-0 friendly win over Rugenbergen
Thorsten Fink used all of the players at his disposal during the match against the local Oberliga side. Heung Min Son konnte looked sharp scoring three times as did Mladen Petric. ![]() HSV warmed their shooting boots up this week, ahead of the round 19 Bundesliga trip to Berlin this weekend. After the planned-friendly against second division side Energie Cottbus was cancelled becaudue to an unplayable pitch, the club quickly arranged a friendly against local Oberliga outfit SV Rugenbergen and beat them 12-0. It was just what the team needed after the 1-5 home drubbing by Borussia Dortmund on matchday 18 last weekend. The 800 spectators inside the Imtech Arena saw an ever-busy HSV eleven. Attractive moves saw them score a hatful of first half goals.
The young South Korean Son missed a few good scoring chances early on, but after his first goal from an acute angle, a penalty he was given by his teammates to take, his bubble burst, allowing to play with the freedom goals give a striker regardless of the opposition. Other scorers before the break were Hanno Behrens (34.) and Tolgay Arslan (30.). The Bundesliga side led 7-0 at halftime. Fink used the second half to have a good look at how David Jarolim and Tomás Rincón did playing together in front of the back four. Paolo Guerrero and Mladen Petric were also tested up front, successfully. First of the dynamic duo to score was Guerrero on 61 minutes. Petric was not to be outdone by the Peruvian hitman though, and scored a second half hattrick (64./65./85.), taking the score into double figures. Rincon made it 12-0 to HSV with the final kick of the game, rounding off the dress rehearsal for the trip to Berlin on Saturday.
