The players and coaching staff will spend eight days at the winter training camp. Many of the group donned their sunglasses on arrival in Spain, unlike Hamburg, where sleet and high winds were the order of the day. Superb facilities welcomed the group on arrival at the five star Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus.
 
Luxurious rooms with patios and top drawer cuisine fit for a king was the order of the day at the team hotel! The pool complex can be seen from each room too. After enjoying lunch, some players relaxed on the sun beds at the side of the pool. It was probably the first and last time that they will be able to enjoy such moments, because in the afternoon the first training session of the training camp stay was on the agenda at the Marbella Football Center (15 minutes drive away).
 
Coach Thorsten Fink told hsv.de: "We will have to carefully dose the work we will do herethis afternoon after the strenuous trip to get here. Strenuous sand runs on the beach and gruelling cross country runs look to be off the agenda, probably to the delight of all the players! The focus will be on skill. The club has arranged four friendly matches for the stay at Marbella. The Rothosen will play Lokeren (06.01.), FC Bruges (08.01.), ADO Den Haag (10.01) and DU Marbella (11.01.).
