HSV managed to tie one of their greatest talents to the club long term this week. Zhi Gin Lam prematurely extended his current contract. The young German-Chinese midfielder's new deal will now expire on June 30th 2015. "Zhi Gin has developed superbly. He is fast, has good technique and visibly enjoys playing the game. What is very important to us is giving players who rise through our ranks the chance to make their mark at Bundesliga level. He ticks all of the boxes and will be giving us a lot of enjoyment in years to come", said sport director Frank Arnesen, as the new deal was signed. Lam is also happy with the contract extension. He told us: "I am very happy to carry on playing for HSV. I made my Bundesliga debut here and am delighted at the trust still being bestowed in me." Lam rose through the ranks at HSV and was given his Bundesliga debut by interim coach Rudolfo Cardoso at the end of September, in the win at Stuttgart. His tally of Bundesliga appearances is now five, and counting!
