Hamburg - Bitter setback for Romeo Castelen. A check up on Tuesday (10.08) has confirmed that the Dutchman will have to go under the knife once again. The injury was caused last week as he received a knock to his right knee in training resulting in a cartilage defect behind his kneecap. "You can't get any unluckier", said a downbeat Castelen. The operation will be carried out by Dr.Richard Steadman in Vail (USA), the doctor who operated on his left knee last October. It is still unclear as to how long Castelen will be out for, more will be known after his arthroscopy.
 
 
"I am not going to throw in the towel"
 
The popular player had only recently battled his way back to fitness after a lenghty period out and was raring to get back into action. "I was so happy to be playing again, I cannot describe how I am feeling right now. I really don't know where I am going to be able to find the strength to comeback again". Retirement is, however, firmly out of the questions for the 27 year old. "There is no way I am going to throw the towel in. My belief will somehow return after the operation and then I will fight my way back." HSV have let their commitment to the player be known, as Armin Veh made clear, "Romeo has a huge heart, we will support him as much as we can".
