Spielbericht
Hamburg - As the dutchman reaches the final few metres to the door of the changing room he is handed a novel in Dutch as well as a present for his children. Ruud van Nistelrooy's daily walk back to the showerss from the training field can often be a daunting but positive prospect . Autographs to sign, photos to take and warm words of support. A wave of euphoria follows van Nistelrooy everywhere he goes, but The Dutchman remains relaxed as always. "everyone here are really nice, I am really enjoying it here and it motivates me even more" said the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player. The attacker answers every question in his patient and likeable manner, even when it takes a little longer than expected and gives something back in return as well. Something which he has been doing his whole career..goals!
The opening game of the season saw him open his account with a brace against Schalke 04 winning the match for Hamburg. There was only one destination for him to to celebrate, the "Nordtribüne". Despite receiving a yellow card for running up the stairs of the north stands it was a moment he will never forget. "Those are the times when you give something back to the fans" as van Nistelrooy explained his reason for the celebration. Goals are what drive him and always were, you just have to watch the player in training to see this. Despite his age the Dutchman still wants every ball, making himself available for every chance. "I love what I do" is the simple and at the same time compelling evidence for his 100% commitment. "Hamburg has given my career an indian summer" This is something the Dutchman appreciated long before his two goals against Schalke."Hamburg has given my career as second wind, which I am very grateful for" he said declaring his love for the club and fans. "I have been treated fantastically since coming here, and now I really feel at home" explained the 34 year old. Whether he will still be at HSV after this season is still unclear, and something van Nistelrooy does not want to think about right now, even the two goals from last weekend are a thing of the past.
The Dutchman's focus is fixed solely on the next oppenent. "I will never forget the moments against Schalke, but we have to focus our attention on the next game, and that is Frankfurt" said Ruud, once again confirming his professional attitude, something he likes to express on the pitch rather than in the dressing room. "I prefer to be a role model for the others rather than telling them what they should do better". He is also intent on setting a example off the pitch as well, especially when it comes to dealing with the requests of the fans on the way from the training pitch to the changing rooms. A reason why the fans are so happy to give him presents, even for the kids. |
