The deadly dozen: HSV players on International duty

Twelve HSV players have been nominated by their countries for the upcoming internationals. Three more could be added to the list with Marcell Jansen, Heiko Westermann and Guy Demel.

Hamburg -The next international games are scheduled for the start of September, a time when the Hamburg training centre will be as quiet as a mouse. A whole array of Hamburg stars have been called up by their national sides and the HSV fax machine has been running non-stop with call-ups! Among them are World Cup runners-up Elia and Mathijsen (Netherlands), Johnathan Pitroipa (Burkina Faso) Maxim Choupo-Moting (Cameroon) as well as Mladen Petric who has been called up to face Latvia in Riga on 03.09 and in Greece at home in Zagreb on 07.09.

Tomas Rincón will face up against Columbia (03.09) and Equatorial Guinea (07.09) for Venezuela. Colin Benjamin has been nominated in the Namibia sqaud to face Gambia in the Africa cup on the 5th of September. Three Hamburg players have been selected in the Czech squad to face Lithuania, the nominations of Drobny, Jarolim and Rozehnal are only provisional however. Gojko Kacar (Serbia) will get a chance to face the Faroe Islands (03.09) in Torshavn and Slovenia (07.09 in Belgrade) while Mickael Taveres will represent Senegal.

German national coach Jogi Löw will announce his squad for the games against Belgium in Brussels (03.09) and Azerbaijan (07.09 in Cologne) this coming friday (27.08.10). Both Heiko Westermann and Marcell Jansen have hopes of being called up but the niggling injuries to Piotr Trochowski and Dennis Aogo look to have ended their hopes of a place in the squad. Guy Demel is the final player waiting on the fax machine to print out his name.
