Fresh start for Aogo

Dennis Aogo cekebrated his comeback for HSV against SC Victoria. The German international is expected to be in the squad to face Nuremburg.

Hamburg - The applause was immense and full of emotion as Matthias Haas was introduced by Armin Veh on the 70 minute mark. The cheers were not meant for the young youth star from the second team, but for Dennis Aogo, German international and World Cup star. Aogo celebrated his comeback on Tuesday (31.08.10) against SC Victoria and managed a decent 70 minutes putting in a good performance. Season debut..successful! "It was a good evening" said the left back a day after the run out.

"Apart from being a bit tired im fine, physically top fit". The 23 year had been suffering from problems with his sciatic nerve since taking part in Germany's third place play-off game against Uruguay in the summer, preventing him from taking part in pre-season. He was treated by Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt in Munich and had to takes things a little slower than his teammates. As they were getting ready for the first game of the season Aogo was only entering the first phases of athletics training with Markus Günther.

"Most intense season of my career"

"Sometimes the body just needs to take a break" said Aogo, who is trying to be more careful with his body after looking back at last season. "An injured nerve almost always has something to do with stress. Last season was the most intensive of my career, I played 50 games and the World Cup. It took its toll on my body". Aogo also had to make do with a shorter summer break last season due to the U-21 European Championships, "it is just something you have to get used to" admitted Aogo. Things can only go uphill from here though after his debut againt Victoria, which has come at the perfect time.

A few extra training sessions will be on the cards over the next few days and the target is to be in the squad to face 1.FC Nuremburg, where he will no doubt be given a very warm round of applause.
