HSV sign Jan Gyamerah

The 23-year-old fullback will transfer to HSV in the summer, and has signed a three-year contract.

HSV have added to their squad for next season by securing Jan Gyamerah on a free transfer. The 23-year-old fullback has signed a three-year contract with Die Rothosen. Gyamerah currently plays for league rivals VfL Bochum, and has made 21 appearances for the club this season. “Jan is a player who definitely fits what we’re looking for,” said Sporting Director Ralf Becker. “He is a young player, who at his age fits in at HSV and wants to further develop as a player. We’re convinced that he will help us out. Becker wants to keep the focus on the current season, however: “The full focus for both us and Bochum right now is the Bundesliga 2.” The rest will follow in the summer.

At the age of 15, after spending time with FC Stadthagen and Arminia Bielefeld, Gyamerah joined VfL Bochum’s youth set-up. He would go on to progress through the club’s youth system before making his professional debut on 20th December 2013, against Dynamo Dresden in the 2. Bundesliga. Gyamerah has made 70 appearances for Bochum in the second tier, as well as making two DFB-Pokal appearances. He has also been capped twice for the Germany U17s, and played four times for Germany U19s. Gyamerah’s strongest position is right-back, but the Berlin-born German-Ghanaian has also made appearances at centre-back and central midfield so far this season.
