2:1! Doyle with last minute winner in Paderborn
Felix Platte equalised Moritz Heyer's lead (5th) before the break (38th). Substitute Tommy Doyle scores in injury time for a 2:1 victory.
HSV celebrates a last-minute victory in Paderborn. The Rothosen won 2-1 in Ostwestfalen thanks to a goal by Tommy Doyle in the fourth minute of stoppage time. (1:1). In addition to the ending, the HSV also got off to a perfect start. Moritz Heyer scored after only five minutes to take the lead, which the Walter eleven more than earned in the further course of the first half through superior play and numerous chances. The shock came in the 38th minute when the hosts equalised through Felix Platte with their first chance of the game. In the second half, too, the Red shorts missed their best chances. On the other side, Daniel Heuer Fernandes saved twice with his fingertips. When everyone was already expecting a draw, substitute Tommy Doyle finished off a final attack by the Red Shorts with the deserved 2-1 victory.

Early lead...
HSV coach Tim Walter had changed his team on three positions compared to the 1:1 against Fortuna Düsseldorf: Heyer replaced Gyamerah at right back, Jatta came in for Suhonen a bit further forward and Alidou, who celebrated his starting debut, came in for Meissner. The idea behind the changes in the offensive: HSV should attack with a lot of speed via the outer lanes. And when Jatta broke through on the right after eleven minutes and his goal was only just prevented by the SCP defence, Alidou had already made his appearance on the right.
With his run and subsequent finish via the left post, the youngster had prepared the 1:0 through Heyer (5th) and thus ensured a perfect start for the Red shorts who remained aggressive and absolutely dominated the game and still had good opportunities in the first half hour through Alidou, Kittel and Glatzel to extend the lead. But this did not happen, and so once again what happened to HSV too often recently happened: the equaliser out of nowhere. The Hamburg team had dictated the game the whole time and had the Paderborn attack under control, but in the 38th minute, the SCP came through once and scored directly through Platte with one of the first shots on goal to make it 1-1. This turned the course of the game upside down - and the picture changed. In the minutes leading up to the break, SCP were on the attack and, with the wind at their back, were able to force a few goalmouth scares, but in the end, the game went into the break with a draw.

... and later the winning goal
After the change of ends, the already exciting, fast-paced and high-class match took another step up a gear. From the start, both teams knew only one direction: forward. Thus, an open exchange of blows developed between the two offensively strong teams, in which HSV had the majority of the actions and chances, but the hosts also repeatedly came close to a 2:1. Like captain Hünemeier, who failed in the 54th minute due to a great effort by Heuer Fernandes and the post.
On the Hamburg side, it was Glatzel and Alidou in particular who had several promising finishes after the Walter men were able to break through again and again via the two flanks. However, the once again strong playing Rothosen did not have the luck to score, just like the always dangerous Paderborn team. And so it went into the final phase with this 1-1 score, although this floodlit duel really had more goals in it than were shown on the scoreboard. It stayed that way until ten minutes before the end, although referee Schlager had already pointed to the penalty spot for HSV after Collins and Kinsombi had got into each other's legs in the penalty area, but Schlager had taken the penalty back at the intervention of the VAR. But even this next blow did not cause HSV to despair and lose heart, instead they kept going - right into the fourth minute of injury time, when the Reds made one last run and were rewarded for a great game with a magic shot by substitute Doyle, who made it a furious and late 2-1.
