Digital accessibility is an important priority for us. Hamburger SV (hereinafter referred to as "HSV") takes responsibility and is committed to making its website and mobile applications barrier-free and accessible. In doing so, we aim to enable as many people as possible to access information and participate in social life—regardless of their individual needs. For HSV, accessibility means more than just a legal obligation; it is a social responsibility. We do not merely want to comply with standards, but rather act as a trailblazer to initiate positive change and leverage our reach beyond football.
In doing so, HSV aligns itself with the provisions of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG)—which entered into force on June 28, 2025—and the associated Ordinance to the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV), implementing Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act). This is intended to guarantee digital accessibility for people with disabilities. This information on digital accessibility applies to the website published under the domain "https://hsv.de" by HSV and the subpages listed below:
The HSV website (hsv.de) is the club's official platform for editorial content. It offers interested users both daily news and longer-term relevant content. On its website and subpages, HSV provides comprehensive information and digital services related to the club, with a particular focus on football. These include, among other things: Latest news about the club, players, and teams, Information about the club, its history, social projects, and HSV's commitments, Information on matches, standings, and results.
They include a service offering for members and fans, as well as digital content such as videos, press conferences, or interviews. These offerings are aimed at all interested individuals, regardless of origin, age, or ability. The goal is to make the content and features as accessible and user-friendly as possible. Football-related services are promoted on the site. For specific services, users are redirected to the corresponding, standalone platform (e.g., ticket shop, fan shop).
In the process of creating an accessible design for the club's own digital platforms, HSV has dealt extensively with the topic of digital accessibility. Numerous measures have already been identified and implemented, as well as planned for the further development of digital accessibility. HSV is fully aware that this path is a continuous process requiring ongoing effort.
The accessibility of HSV's websites is therefore an integral part of the ongoing development process. To this end, we follow a continuous improvement process to enhance digital accessibility and step-by-step resolve any identified deficits and defects.
What have we achieved so far?
Optimization of keyboard accessibility
Improvement of color contrasts and alt texts
Improvement of screen reader compatibility
Development of a sustainable strategy for future measures
Detailed improvements across various areas
Many areas of the websites are already very accessible and largely comply with applicable digital accessibility requirements. The benchmark for assessing accessibility is a completed evaluation under the success criteria of international accessibility standards using WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Today, measured against the applicable norms and the standards mentioned above, the websites are not yet fully barrier-free and contain content that is not fully accessible. This includes, among other things, the content listed below:
Documents provided for download as PDFs are not accessible.
Not all images and graphics are provided with alternative text to be readable by screen readers and other assistive technologies.
Not all content and functions can be navigated or operated without restriction using keyboard control.
HSV is making the effort to eliminate these shortcomings as quickly as possible to achieve a high degree of accessibility. Numerous measures have already been identified and implemented, and a sustainable strategy for an accessible web presence has been developed. HSV is aware that this path is a continuous process that requires constant work. New challenges and developments are actively addressed.
Accessibility of the HSV website is an integral part of our continuous development process. Should you identify any deficits regarding the aforementioned accessibility requirements or further opportunities for improving accessibility, please contact us and let us know:
