HSV complete Remberg signing
Hamburger SV have secured the services of midfielder Nicolai Remberg. The 24-year-old moves to the Hansestadt from Holstein Kiel. Stefan Kuntz: “His physicality and resilience will be a great addition to our squad and our game.”
Our first new signing ahead of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season is complete: Nicolai Remberg has joined Hamburger SV after completing his medical at the UKE Athleticum on Friday and signing his contract at the Volksparkstadion on Saturday. The 24-year-old central midfielder makes the switch to the Rothosen from Holstein Kiel. Born in 2000, Remberg helped the Storks achieve promotion to the Bundesliga in 2024. He featured 32 times in the top flight last season, starting 26 games and only missing two matches due to yellow-card suspensions. The 1.88-meter-tall right-footer took his first steps in professional football at SC Preußen Münster.

“Nicolai has continued to develop and work his way up over the past years thanks to his strong work ethic and eagerness to learn,” said board member for sport Stefan Kuntz. “His physicality and resilience will be a great addition to our squad and our game.” The hard-working and hard-tackling midfielder will add to the options in midfield, increasing the competition for places. “Nicolai is a proper team player and model professional. With his great mentality and ambition, he can continue to develop even further together with our team,” said director of football Claus Costa. “We will benefit greatly from his box-to-box qualities and his intense playing style."
For HSV’s newest addition, the move to Hamburg means staying in the Bundesliga and embracing a big new challenge – one he feels fully prepared for thanks to his game-defining attributes. “I want to bring my strengths to the team, show my physical presence, and win as many battles as I can out on the pitch,” said Remberg, who made 217 senior appearances for Münster and Kiel in recent years and is known to his teammates as “Rambo”. Looking ahead to his new chapter in the Volksparkstadion, he added: “It’s a real honour to wear the HSV shirt. In my conversations with the club’s management, it became clear what kind of role I can take on here and the journey we want to go on – both as a team and personally. I’m excited and ready for what’s ahead!”
