HSV sign Rayan Philippe
Hamburger SV have signed versatile attacker Rayan Philippe from Eintracht Braunschweig. Claus Costa: “With his versatility and athleticism, Rayan was exactly the kind of attacking player we were looking for. He impresses with his pace, runs in behind and threat in front of goal.”
Hamburger SV have secured the services of a new attacker ahead of their return to the Bundesliga. Rayan Philippe has joined the Rothosen from Eintracht Braunschweig, having scored three goals in the two meetings between the clubs last season. Overall, the 24-year-old Frenchman featured 37 times in all competitions in 2024/25, playing all 34 league games, Braunschweig’s two relegation play-off ties and one DFB-Pokal fixture. He therefore played in all of Eintracht’s competitive matches, scoring 14 goals in total and recording a further six assists, meaning the former France U20 international had a hand in over half of Braunschweig’s goals. Philippe scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his 62 matches overall for Eintracht.

“Rayan was a key performer for Braunschweig and played a big role in them staying up last season in particular,” said HSV’s board member for sport Stefan Kuntz. “He’s an extremely interesting player and we’ve closely followed his positive development. He’s shown his strengths in the second division and we’re now pleased that Rayan will take the next step in his career together with HSV as we both move into the Bundesliga and try to establish ourselves there.” Director of football Claus Costa added: “With his versatility and athleticism, Rayan was exactly the kind of attacking player we were looking for. Whether he plays as a centre forward, a false nine or a right winger, he impresses with his pace, runs in behind and threat in front of goal. He will make us harder to predict in attack and will improve our overall attacking play.”
The attacker, who stands at 1.82 metres, will soon get the chance to show what he’s capable of at the Volksparkstadion after completing his medical at the UKE Athleticum on Tuesday (1st July) and then signing his contract with HSV. Philippe will wear the number 14 shirt and will be part of the official start of pre-season training on Wednesday. “I’m really happy about joining HSV and I look forward to getting to know my teammates and the staff. I’m already excited about my first home game here after already experiencing the atmosphere at the Volksparkstadion. I want to get to work straight away to help the club achieve their goals. HSV have a rich history and are now back in the Bundesliga, which I’m really looking forward to experiencing. I want to show that this team and myself have the quality to survive and do well in this league.”
