HSV and Toni Leistner Part Ways

The 31 year-old leaves HSV after one year with the club.

HSV and Toni Leistner will go their separate ways with immediate effect. Both parties agreed on the early termination of the contract, which still runs until 2022. The 31-year-old centre-back joined the club on a free transfer from Queen Park Rangers last summer. After a difficult start, the 1.90 metre tall defender played a total of 20 competitive games (1 goal) with the diamond on his chest last season. In the preparation for the current season, he lost his regular place in central defence to youngster Jonas David (21) and, after discussions with the sporting management, was unable to settle on his intended role within the team. As a result, the club initially released Leistner to search for a club. At the end of the transfer period, an agreement was reached to terminate his contract. The club wishes Toni Leistner all the best for the future.
