2nd round of the DFB Pokal: Home tie against VfB Stuttgart
On Sunday evening the draw took place for the second round of the DFB Pokal. The fifteenth tie pulled out of the hat was HSV at home to VfB Stuttgart.
As part of ARD’s ‘Sportschau’ programme, the second round draw for the DFB Pokal took place on Sunday (18th August) at the German football museum in Dortmund. HSV were drawn at home by attendee Christoph Metzelder, before being paired up with second division rivals VfB Stuttgart. “We are looking forward to the home game and are hoping for an exciting cup match between two big, traditional teams in front of a packed house at the Volksparkstadion,” were HSV Head of Sport Jonas Boldt’s thoughts on the tie. Boldt also found irony in the game being scheduled a few days after the Swabian’s visit to the Volksparkstadion in the league: “It’s certainly curious how we are going to be playing VfB Stuttgart at home twice in such a short space of time. The team from Stuttgart are more than welcome to stay in Hamburg for a few days and enjoy what our city has to offer.” The second round of the DFB Pokal will be played on the 29th or 30th October, a number of days after the 11th matchday in the 2. Liga. The fixture that weekend? Well of course, it’s HSV against VfB Stuttgart.
The exact dates for ticket sales and lots more information on the game will follow in the next couple of days.
