In the second round of the DFB-Pokal, Hamburger SV will face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt at home in the Volksparkstadion. This was determined by Saturday’s draw (September 5) at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, with record cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger (seven titles) serving as the “draw assistant.”
It will be the fourth meeting between HSV and Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal. The Rothosen have lost all three previous encounters: 0–2 in the round of 16 in 1970, 1–3 after extra time in the 1974 final, and most recently 2–5 in the second round in 2010. Now, 16 years later, the two sides will meet again in the competition.
The matches in the second round will take place on October 27 and 28. The exact dates and kick-off times for the individual fixtures have yet to be announced.
