Aboubaka Soumahoro joins RCD Mallorca on loan
The 21-year-old defender will spend the 2026/27 season in Spain’s second tier as he looks to pick up more game time.
Aboubaka Soumahoro will spend 2026/27 on loan from Hamburger SV at RCD Mallorca, who were relegated from La Liga last term. The move is designed to give the 21-year-old defender the chance to play regularly again.
“Abou’s loan spell at Saint-Étienne over the past six months didn’t go the way we had hoped. In order to take the next step in his development, he needs regular minutes. That’s why we’ve decided on another loan for him,” explained HSV sporting director Claus Costa. “In RCD Mallorca, we’ve found a suitable solution where he has a better chance of getting game time than he would have with us. We’ll keep a close eye on him over the coming year and wish him all the very best.”
Soumahoro spent the second half of last season with AS Saint-Étienne in France’s second division, but did not make a single appearance. The Frenchman joined HSV from Paris FC 18 months ago and made his competitive debut for the Rothosen on matchday 3 of last season, having had to wait longer for that moment because of injury. He has made five appearances for HSV so far.
