Bakery Jatta extends till 2024

HSV HAVE EXTENDED THE 20-YEAR-OLD GAMBIAN’S CONTRACT, WHICH WAS DUE TO EXPIRE IN THE SUMMER, UNTIL 2024.

HSV have further boosted their squad during the winter break by extending Bakery Jatta’s contract, which was due to expire on the 30th June 2019. The 20-year-old winger’s new deal runs until the summer of 2024.

The Gambian has been under contract with die Rothosen since the 1st July 2016, making 26 first-team appearances and claiming two goals, as well as two assists. Jatta celebrated his first goal for the club back on the 10th of November last year, when he struck in the 3-1 away win against Aue. Towards the end of 2018, Jatta became a key player in the HSV attack, starting the last five games of the year. His positive development has seen him now rewarded with a new long-term contract.

“I’m very thankful to HSV and am happy that we can continue to work together. I’d like to keep learning here and help out the club. Together with the rest of the team, I want to return to playing Bundesliga football,” said Jatta, upon signing his new contract.

Sporting director Ralf Becker was also delighted with the winger’s contract extension: “We’re always interested in working with young players who want to follow the club’s principles. Bakery Jatta, in particular, has taken a big step forwards in the last six months and shown that he’s an important player for the team. As he’s definitely not finished his development as a player, we’ve taken the conscious decision to extend his contract until 2024.”
