Balde on target to round off international break

Six HSV players were in action on Tuesday (14th October), with Fabio Balde marking the occasion by scoring his first goal for Portugal’s U21 national team. There was also an all-HSV encounter in U19 EURO qualifying between Norway and Germany.

The final evening of international fixtures brought plenty of good news from a Hamburg perspective. Winger Fabio Balde celebrated an emphatic 11-0 win with Portugal’s U21s against Gibraltar in EURO qualifying. The 20-year-old HSV academy graduate came off the bench to net his first international goal and added two assists for good measure.

There was also a special occasion for HSV’s U19 internationals Alexander Rössing-Lelesiit (Norway) and Fernando Dickes, Moritz Reimers and Otto Stange (currently on loan at Elversberg), who faced each other in a U19 EURO qualifier. Germany, coached by Christian Wörns, came out on top with a 2-1 win.

Centre-back Luka Vuskovic also enjoyed success with Croatia. After initially training with the senior side, the 18-year-old joined up with the U21s to help in a crucial EURO qualifier against Ukraine – and did so in style. Wearing the captain’s armband, he led the “Kockasti” to a 1-0 victory and played the full 90 minutes.

Things were less positive for HSV’s senior internationals on the second matchday of the break. While Miro Muheim had already recorded a 0-0 draw with Switzerland in Slovenia on Monday, Giorgi Gocholeishvili (4-1 vs Turkey) and goalkeeper Daniel Peretz (3-0 vs Italy) both suffered heavy defeats.
