Captain Aaron Hunt returns but Patric Pfeiffer ruled out

Hamburger SV captain Aaron Hunt returned to training with the rest of the team on Tuesday. However, defender Patric Pfeiffer has been ruled out for six-eight weeks through injury.

Hamburger’s players started their preparations today for their next home game against DSC Arminia Bielefeld on Monday 27th August (20:30 CEST). Head coach Christian Titz will be able to call upon the services of captain Aaron Hunt again as he returns from injury.

“Aaron has worked really hard in the period that he has not taken part in training. There is no doubt that he is an important player for us. He brings a certain calmness to our play. I’m glad that he’s fit again and available for us,” Titz said after this morning’s training session.

There is also bad news, however: Patric Pfeiffer injured his shoulder in an U21 match and will miss the next six to eight weeks. Die Rothosen also lost Tatsuya Ito today due to a bruised foot. Additionally, Matti Steinmann and Josha Vagnoman will not be able to fully train this week due to thigh injuries, ruling them out of the game against Arminia Bielefeld.

Hamburger’s players trained both morning and afternoon today, with the coaches trying different coaching methods in the glorious sunshine. The focus today was on attacking quickly and turning over possession. The players really got stuck in, and they were fighting to win every ball. Fabian Gmeier, who plays for club’s under-21s, trained with the first-team for the afternoon session. Training finished with the team going into a game. The next training session will be tomorrow at 14:00 (CEST).
