Jan Gyamerah and Klaus Gjasula endured a rotten end to 2020, injuring themselves in training on Thursday. Tests on the first day of the new calendar year revealed the severity of the injuries. “Unfortunately their injuries were a lot worse than we first thought,” manager Daniel Thioune confirmed at Friday’s press conference. Gyamerah will be missing for several weeks with a torn ligament in his right ankle, and Albanian international Gjasula can expect a similar recovery time after tearing ligaments in his right knee. “They were hard challenges that caused the injuries,” the 45-year-old added, but “we have strength in depth so I’m optimistic that we will be able to provide cover for these two losses.”
