Happy birthday – HSV celebrates its 133rd anniversary

29th September 1887 – on this day 133 years ago, the foundations were laid for Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V., when the Sport-Club Germania von 1887 was founded, the oldest of the three founding clubs of modern-day HSV. The date was later used as the official founding date of the club, as in 1919, SC Germania and FC Falke 1906 joined the Hamburger Sport-Verein von 1888 (previously known as Hamburger Fußball-Club). The joint venture from the three clubs also needed a new badge, and, inspired by the Blue Peter shipping signal, the famous HSV diamond was born, which all HSV members wear on their chest, invoking many great memories of years gone past.
