HSV sack Bruno Labbadia

The board decided on the change of coach, also dismissing co-trainers Sozer and Trares.

HSV have dismissed head coach Bruno Labbadia and co-trainers Sözer and Bernhard Trares. Following the 0-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich yesterday the board met and together with club boss Dietmar Beiersdorfer and decided on a parting of the ways with immediate effect: “The step was necessary because of the sporting situation we are in. I am convinced that we need to change our head coach after the disappointing start to the new season in the hope that we can turn things around. After the long preparation period and the games so far, it is clear that our development is well below our expectations”, revealed Beiersdorfer on Sunday (25.09).

The club boss found kind words for his now excoach Labbadia as he said: “On behalf of the whole club I would like to thank Bruno for the job he did here. It will never be forgotten how hard he worked during what was a tough and challenging time.” Labbadia leaves HSV after almost 18 months. What put him in the history books was the amazing great escape that the Rothosen managed in the 2-1 relegation play off clash away to Karlsruher SC.

The board plan to name his successor at the beginning of next week.
