HSV sign Julian Pollersbeck
The 22 year old stopper, currently on international duty with the German under-21s has signed a four year deal which expires on June 30th 2021.
HSV announced the signing of Julian Pollersbeck from Kaiserslautern this week. The 22 year old keeper who has yet to pass a medical at his new club has put pen to paper on a four year deal which keeps him at the Volksparkstadion until June 30th 2012. Last season he played 31 times for second division side Kaiserslautern, keeping 14 clean sheets in the process and only conceded 27 times. That form was instrumental in keeping the tradition-steeped former Bundesliga champions in the second division. Lautern had the second best defensive record in that division.
“Julian is a young and very talented keeper who underlined his potential with Kaiserslautern last season”, explained Rothosen sport boss Jens Todt who added: “We have watched him for a long time and are convinced of his qualities.” Pollersbeck will now be fighting for the spot between the HSV posts with current Rothosen stoppers Christian Mathenia and Tom Mickel under the watchful eye of club keeper coach Stefan Wächter.
Todt again: “Julian is ready to take his next step. He told us some time ago that he would like to join us. We are glad it has now happened and that we can go into next season with three class keepers.” The youngster is delighted. He said: “I thank everyone at Kaiserslautern for the past few years and wish them well for the coming season. I am looking forward to a new chapter with HSV in the top flight and hope we can achieve our goals.”
Pollersbeck joined Lautern from Wacker Burghausen in 2013 and became their number one stopper in 2016 playing in the third division. The crowning glory for him was getting nominated for the German under-21s who are currently playing the 2017 Euros in Poland. Germany take on England in the semi-finals on Tuesday (27.06.17, 6.00 PM). The next highlight promises to be in a HSV shirt.
