HSV sign Kofi Amoako
The midfielder is the Rothosen’s first new arrival for the coming season. The Germany U20 international joins the Bundesliga club from SG Dynamo Dresden. Claus Costa: “Kofi is a really exciting player.”
Hamburger SV’s first new signing for the 2026/27 season has been confirmed, with Kofi Amoako joining the club. The defensive midfielder makes the move from second-tier side SG Dynamo Dresden.

“Kofi is a really exciting player – the combination of his physicality and athleticism, his strength in the tackle and his intensity without possession all fit our playing style extremely well. On top of that, he is good on the ball and tactically flexible,” said HSV sporting director Claus Costa. “We’re convinced he will add something to our game, while he also still has plenty of room to develop. We’re delighted to have been able to bring him to HSV.”
“Claus talked me through HSV’s playing style and won me over. After speaking to the whole coaching team – Merlin, Loic and Richi – I knew for certain that I wanted to play for this club,” explained Amoako. “I can’t wait for the first home game, because the Volksparkstadion is simply huge!”
From Wolfsburg, Osnabrück and Dresden to HSV
Kofi Jeremy Amoako spent one season with Dynamo Dresden, making 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and setting up one goal. Before that, the Hannover-born midfielder spent a year on loan at VfL Osnabrück in the 3. Liga. The youngster came through the ranks at VfL Wolfsburg between 2019 and 2024, making two Bundesliga appearances in his final season there, coming on for one minute each time. Amoako is also a current Germany youth international, having made six appearances for the U20s.
HSV warmly welcome Kofi Amoako to the club!
