HSV sign Martin Adeline
The 22-year-old Frenchman strengthens the Rothosen’s midfield. Kathleen Krüger: “Martin brings exactly the qualities we were looking for. He will bring another dimension to our play, give us more options and make us more flexible.”
HSV have completed the signing of Martin Adeline. The 22-year-old midfielder joins from Troyes, who were promoted to Ligue 1 last season. Adeline passed his medical on Monday morning (13th July) before signing a long-term contract with the club. The right-footed Frenchman will wear the number 5 shirt for HSV. He recorded 21 goal contributions in 32 league appearances last season, the best tally in the Troyes squad, and played a major part in their return to the French top flight after three years away.
“Bringing Martin to the club is an important step in our long-term plans for the squad. Our recruitment decisions are based on close cooperation between the sporting management, scouting department and coaching staff. After reviewing last season in detail, it was clear that we wanted to strengthen the squad in specific areas and add a different skill set to the squad. Martin brings exactly the qualities we were looking for. He will bring another dimension to our play, give us more options and make us more flexible. His personality and mentality are also a very good fit for HSV. He is a selfless team player who works tirelessly for the side. We are delighted that he has chosen to join the club,” explained HSV board member for sport Kathleen Krüger.

“Martin plays with a great deal of energy and intensity and is always looking to make forward runs. He reads space very well in the final third and regularly gets himself into dangerous positions. He is also committed and disciplined in his work off the ball,” said HSV sporting director Claus Costa, adding: “He has improved year after year and has just enjoyed an excellent season in Ligue 2, which culminated in promotion. Martin is positive, level-headed and down to earth, and we believe he will fit into the group extremely well. We were also impressed by how quickly he made it clear that he wanted to join HSV. That was an important part of the process.”
Breakthrough at Troyes, next step in Hamburg
Martin Gabriel Belaïd Adeline was born in Épernay in the Champagne region on 2nd December 2003. The midfielder spent a year in Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before joining Stade de Reims, where he turned professional and made 14 appearances in Ligue 1. After loan spells at Rodez and Annecy, he moved to Troyes in summer 2024. Adeline established himself there, contributing 13 goals and 15 assists in 63 competitive appearances. His 21 goal contributions in 2025/26 made him one of Ligue 2’s most productive attacking players.
“I had a very good feeling from my first conversations with HSV. The size of the club, the supporters and the stadium all appealed to me, as did the chance to continue developing and prove myself in the Bundesliga. I am very grateful to everyone at the club for the faith they have shown in me. I’m now looking forward to meeting my new teammates and playing at the Volksparkstadion for the first time,” commented the 22-year-old. The move to Hamburg will be the 22-year-old’s first experience of playing outside France. Moin, Martin, and welcome to HSV!
