HSV sign Sander Tangvik
The 23-year-old goalkeeper joins HSV from Norwegian side Rosenborg FK. Claus Costa: “Sander brings ideal attributes for a goalkeeper and has a strong personality.”
Hamburger SV have completed the signing of Sander Tangvik following the departure of Daniel Peretz. The 23-year-old goalkeeper joins HSV from Norwegian record champions Rosenborg FK. The 1.93m tall keeper successfully completed his medical at the Athleticum at the Volkspark on Wednesday (21st January) before signing his contract.
“By signing Sander, we’ve moved early to fill another key position this transfer window and secured a solution that extends beyond the summer. That was important to us, because Daniel Peretz’s departure was dependent on strengthening the goalkeeping position in line with the long-term development of our squad. Claus and his team have done an excellent job of achieving that with the signing of a talented goalkeeper,” said board member Eric Huwer.

“With his height, reach and athleticism, Sander brings ideal attributes for a goalkeeper. He is also quick to react on his line and brave when defending his area. We believe he has lots of potential and want to develop it as effectively as possible together with our goalkeeping team over the coming years,” said sporting director Claus Costa, before adding: “Sander has a strong personality. He has clearly committed to our club’s path, sees the task at HSV as an exciting challenge and is ready to slot into the existing goalkeeping hierarchy. At the same time, he is highly ambitious and is expected to add positive energy to the competition between the posts.”
Recent Norway call-up
Tangvik was born in Trondheim on 29th November 2002. He joined the youth academy of his hometown club Rosenborg FK at the age of 14 in March 2017. Four years later, he was promoted to the first team, for whom he went on to make 85 competitive appearances, keeping 28 clean sheets. Six of those outings came in UEFA Conference League qualification.
In addition, Tangvik received his first call-up to Norway’s senior national team during the November 2025 international break. He was an unused substitute in the World Cup qualifiers against Estonia (4-1) and Italy (4-1), meaning he is yet to win his first cap.
The 23-year-old will now take his next steps at club level. “I had good, open discussions with the club, in which a clear plan was presented to me and my role within the goalkeeping group was explained transparently. I’m joining a team that’s already functioning well, I want to bring energy every day and be there when I’m needed,” said Tangvik, who will wear the number 12 shirt for HSV. “Hamburger SV is a club full of history and tradition that I’ve known since childhood and followed more closely in recent times. On top of that, the Bundesliga is a very competitive and strong league. For me, this move is exactly the right step to continue developing at the highest level.”
Moin and welcome to Hamburg, Sander!
