HSV sign Sonny Kittel

The 26-year-old midfielder joins HSV from FC Ingolstadt and signs a four year contract.

Right in time for the start of the 2019/20 pre-season, Hamburger SV presented their next signing: Sonny Kittel joined from FC Ingolstadt 04 on a free transfer. The 26-year-old midfielder passed his medical on Monday at the AKE and signed a four year contract at the Volksparkstadion.

“We are very happy to have signed Sonny Kittel, who was in demand from other clubs. I have personally followed him since he played in the U15s. He will be a tremendous asset to us, not only because of his experience in this league but also because of his technical skills, his attacking threat, his playing style and his attacking flexibility,” said sporting director Jonas Boldt.

“A super feeling from our first talks”

Kittel was also happy to sign a contract with the club. “I am very happy to have made the change to such a big club. Dieter Hecking and Jonas Boldt have made me feel very good since negotiations started. HSV is the right step for me to take,” said the new signing.

Kittel made 31 appearances for FC Ingolstadt last season in 2. Bundesliga, scoring ten goals and claiming six assists. Two seasons ago, he was involved in 25 goals (ten goals, 15 assists) and had the second highest goal involvement in the league.
