HSV take 29 players to training camp in Spain
The Rothosen flew to their training camp in Mallorca around midday on Wednesday with 25 outfielders and four goalkeepers in the squad.
“We want to grow closer as a team”, said head coach Merlin Polzin with regards to the Rothosen’s five-day training camp (6th – 10th August) in Mallorca. This marks the final stage of pre-season training, as the finishing touches are applied to both the football itself and team chemistry on and off the pitch. The Rothosen will focus not only on their training and the friendly against RCD Mallorca, but also hold tactical and video analysis sessions as well as both individual and team meetings to consolidate the team’s football identity. Finally, away from the football, it gives the players a chance to grow closer together.

Königsdörffer rejoins the team
For the training camp, the 34-year-old Polzin and his coaching staff selected a squad consisting of 25 outfield players and four goalkeepers. Just before midday, the Rothosen completed their training session at the Volksparkstadion before departing from Hamburg Airport. Forward Ransford Königsdörffer (pictured), who has returned to the team following a transfer which could not be completed, is also part of the group heading to Spain. Winger Jean-Luc Dompe is continuing his rehabilitation program in Hamburg and will join the team over the course of the next week.
