HSV to face SC Freiburg in friendly
This coming Saturday, the Rothosen will travel to last season’s fifth-placed Bundesliga side in a friendly match behind closed doors.
After hard-fought losses against Danish champions FC Copenhagen (1-0) and Austrian champions SK Sturm Graz (2-1), as well as the recent 4-0 defeat to French giants Olympique Lyon, the next tough test awaits HSV this weekend – and Merlin Polzin continues to stress the importance of these high-level pre-season friendlies: “After getting promoted, it won’t do us any good to test ourselves against underdogs – we won’t develop by doing that. We want to prepare ourselves for what’s going to come our way in the top flight,” said the head coach. That’s why the Rothosen will take on fellow Bundesliga side SC Freiburg at 13:00 CEST on Saturday, 2nd August in a special friendly. In order for as many players to get as much game time as possible and work on new tactics, the clubs have agreed to significantly extended periods for the meeting, which will be played out behind closed doors away at the Europa League participants. There will also be no livestream for the match. You can follow the game on Hamburger SV’s social-media channels.
