Jan Gyamerah suffers serious injury in training

The 24-year-old right-back broke his left calf bone in training on Wednesday.

A bitter pill to swallow for HSV and Jan Gyamerah. The 24-year-old right-back broke his left fibula in training this morning and will be operated on later today. “The injury is a real shock for all of us. We feel incredibly sorry for Jan, who has integrated himself on and off the pitch in an exemplary manner and in no time at all has become an integral part of the team. We are going to do everything in our power to support him during his rehabilitation and have the utmost faith in our medical department,” was Head of Sport Jonas Boldt’s reaction to the news.

Gyamerah, who was in the starting line-up in every one of HSV’s six games so far this season, fell over his left leg in training on Wednesday morning without outside interference, with his left fibula giving way in the process. After receiving emergency care on the pitch from the HSV physios, an ambulance arrived soon after to take Gyamerah to the UKE hospital in Hamburg, where he will be operated on later today. Everyone at HSV would like to wish Jan the strength that he needs for a smooth recovery, we look forward to seeing you back on the pitch as soon as possible.
