Josha Vagnoman out with injury

The 18-year-old has suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined for four weeks.

Details of the injury were confirmed in the results of an MRI scan carried out in coordination with the UKE-Athleticum. The full-back, who was due to start HSV’s draw with 1. FC Heidenheim on Sunday, was pulled out of the starting XI after feeling pain in his knee during the warm-up. “Josha has progressed fantastically this season and has been a very versatile option for us. We wish him a successful recovery and will continue to support him as best we can,” explained HSV sporting director Ralf Becker.

Vagnoman, who joined HSV in 2010 and progressed through the club’s youth ranks, became HSV’s youngest player of all time last season as he made his Bundesliga debut aged 17 years, two months and 27 days old. This season, the Hamburg local has been an important member of the first team squad and has made eight appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. Sunday’s match against Heidenheim would have marked his seventh consecutive appearance for Die Rothosen.
