Katterbach with the U21s until further notice
HSV defender Noah Katterbach was informed in a personal meeting on Tuesday that he will train with the club’s second team for the time being.
Hamburger SV have decided that Noah Katterbach will temporarily move to the second team. The 24-year-old was told of the decision by the coaching team, director of football Claus Costa and board member for sport Stefan Kuntz in a personal meeting before Tuesday’s (23rd September) training session. The measure is not a permanent one but a clear reaction to misconduct. As is the case for every player, the expectation is to put the team’s collective path and objectives above all else.
Katterbach suffered a cruciate ligament tear in January 2025 and, thanks to meticulous rehab work and the strong support of HSV and his teammates, had successfully fought his way back in time for the start of pre-season. The club are confident that he will use this break as a chance to reflect, come back stronger from the situation and then join back up with the first-team squad. Both the player and the club have agreed that no further details about the internal measure will be made public.
