Luca Waldschmidt out with ankle ligament damage

The striker ruptured a medial ligament in his ankle during the recent friendly defeat to Holstein Kiel and can only individually train for the time being.

Bad news for Luca Waldschmidt. The striker who scored the crucial goal to keep HSV in the Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg at the end of last season and was doing so impressively during the current close season period, injured a ligament in his right ankle and will only be able to train on his own over coming days. Club sport boss Jens Todt: “It is of course very bitter for him to have to miss part of the pre-season period on the pitch. We will of course give him all the support of our medical team in order to get him back in action as soon as possible.”

Waldschmidt has travelled with the squad to the second pre-season training camp in Austria – Längenfeld to be exact where he will be under the wing of reha coach Sebastian Capel from whom he will receive an individually-crafted build up training programme. It also keeps him close to the team. The team at HSV.de wish Luca a full and speedy recovery.
