Markus Gisdol extends contract at HSV

The head coach and his coaching staff have agreed terms on contracts which will last until June 30th 2019.

HSV were happy to announce that head coach Markus Gisdol signed a two year extension to his current deal which was due to expire on the final day of the current season. The new contract runs until June 30th 2019 as have fellow coaches Frank Fröhling and Frank Kaspari keeper coach Stefan Wächter as well as fitness coach Daniel Müssig.

“We are delighted that the current coaching team can trustfully continue. We are determined to carry on down our current path together for coming years”, said Rothosen sport boss Jens Todt. Head coach Markus Gisdol is happy to carry on at the Volksparkstadion and said: “In our current situation we must remain focused and put sporting success first. We have a major goal to achieve. I am delighted that the club approached me, would like to achieve stability, continuity and that we can work together beyond the current season.“ HSV club boss Heribert Bruchhagen added: “I want calm and stability at the club so I am delighted with the contract extensions signed by Markus Gisdol and his team.”

Gisdol (47) who hails from Bad Überkingen, took the HSV hot seat on September 25 last year with the agreement that he remain until the end of the season. After taking a month to asses the situation at the club Gisdol made changes to the team environment and after suffering the worst ever start to a Bundesliga season (2 points from a possible 30 in the opening ten games of the season) the Rothosen have managed a creditable 25 points from 15 games – worlds apart from the early days of the season. Recent performances have kept HSV in with a good chance of maintaining their proud record of being the only Bundesliga side never to have been relegated.
