Miro Muheim named in Switzerland squad for World Cup
The Hamburger SV left-back has been named in Switzerland’s 26-man squad for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. It will be the first major tournament of his career.
Miro Muheim is set for one of the greatest adventures of his career to date. The 28-year-old left-back has been called up by Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. At the tournament, Switzerland will face Qatar, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canada in Group B. The competition runs from 11th June to 19th July 2026.
Muheim made his senior debut for the Switzerland national team in November 2024 in a 3-2 defeat to Spain and has since earned eight caps for his country. The Zürich native will now take part in the first major tournament of his career. The defender has been at HSV since 2021 and made 32 competitive appearances across all competitions this season, providing four assists in that time. Muheim made a return to action in last Saturday’s match away at Leverkusen after recovering from the ankle injury he sustained in the 3-1 Nordderby defeat at Werder Bremen.
Congratulations on your World Cup call-up and best of luck, Miro!
