With nine 2. Bundesliga matches completed so far this season, the second international break is upon us and nine HSV players have been called up to their respective squads for international duty. They will join up with their national squads in the coming days.

Hee-chan Hwang, who has featured in six HSV matches and scored once in his first four weeks at the club, will join up with the South Korea squad for their two upcoming friendlies. Paulo Bento’s side will take on Uruguay (12th October) and Panama (16th October). South Korea will host each fixture in Seoul and Cheonan respectively. David Bates has been called up to the Scotland U21s squad for their two European Championship qualifiers, facing Ukraine in Kiev (12th October) before hosting England in Edinburgh just four days later.

Rick van Drongelen could also be in action against Ukraine in U21 European Championship qualifying as he has been called up to the Netherlands U21s squad. The Dutch will take on Ukraine (16th October) following an away qualifier in Lithuania (12 October) as they go in search of important points to secure qualification for next year’s tournament in Italy. Van Drongelen is likely to feature for the ‘Oranje’ as he played for the full 90 minutes in their last fixture. Orel Mangala will join up with the Belgium U21s squad ahead of their qualifiers away in Italy (11th October) and Sweden (16th October). Mangala has already made two appearance for Belgium’s U21 side and has previously featured on 47 occasions for other Belgium youth teams.

Young HSV striker Manuel Wintzheimer has received a call up to the Germany U20s squad for their two matches against the Netherlands (12th October) and Switzerland (16th October). Meanwhile, Fiete Arp, Jonas David, Josha Vagnoman and Tobias Knost will participate in the Germany U19s training camp in Cyprus. Alongside some intensive training sessions, the squad will face two local teams in friendlies as part of the training camp.
