Papadopoulos to support HSV under-21 side

Kyriakos Papadopoulos, after consultation with the HSV sporting hierarchy, shall be taking part in training for the club’s Regionalliga team from this point onwards.

HSV defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos will no longer be part of the first team squad of Hamburger SV. HSV Head of Sport Jonas Boldt, manager Dieter Hecking and the Greek defender came to the agreement after discussions with the 27-year-old’s new agent Seven United. “Due to the unsatisfactory situation that Papa currently finds himself in, he approached us with the wish to leave the club during the winter transfer period. As we want to maintain the competition within the squad, we all came to the same conclusion, that Papa will keep himself fit with the Regionalliga squad,” Boldt explained. “Everyone who knows me will know that I always want to play and give my all for the team,” said Papadopoulos. “The sporting hierarchy made it clear to me that this isn’t possible at the moment. I have to accept this decision.”
