Rick van Drongelen joins HSV
The 18 year old Dutch central defender joins the Rothosen from Sparta Rotterdam and has put pen to paper on a five year contract.
HSV made another move on the transfer market on Thursday (03.08), announcing the signing of talented youngster Rick van Drongelen from Dutch top flight side Sparta Rotterdam. The 18 year old has signed a contract which keeps him at the Volksparkstadion until June 30th 2022: “We are delighted that the deal is done. We have been monitoring Rick for a long time and have watched him play more than ten times. He is a strong tackler, plays with a lot of heart and has a strong winning mentality”, said HSV sport boss Jens Todt. The player himself said: “It feels great to be here. It is a huge step for me and I can’t wait to learn from my team mates and walk out into this superb stadium for the first time.“
HSV last saw van Dongelen at the recent training camp stay in Austria, as the youngster opened the scoring for Sparta in a friendly. He made his debut for them at just 17 years of age and has 31 top flight appearances to his name. He has also been capped by Holland at under-17 and under-19 level collecting 24 caps in all. He recently captained the under-19s.
