Rössing-Lelesiit set for lengthy period on the sidelines with syndesmosis injury
The 19-year-old Norwegian suffered a high-grade tear of the syndesmosis ligament in his right ankle following a foul in the Hamburg derby and will now be out for several months.
Bad news for Alexander Rössing-Lelesiit and Hamburger SV: The 19-year-old winger sustained a high-grade tear of the syndesmosis ligament in his right ankle during the derby away at FC St. Pauli. The diagnosis was confirmed following detailed MRI examinations at the Athleticum at the Volkspark. As a result, the Norwegian will be sidelined for several months. Further specialist examinations are scheduled for Monday (26th January), after which it will be decided whether surgery is required.
Rössing-Lelesiit was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge near the halfway line during the early stages of Friday night’s derby at FC St. Pauli (23rd January).
The youngster, who has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season (8 of them starts), now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process. HSV and the club’s medical team will provide him with full support throughout his recovery. Get well soon, Alex!
