Rothenburg, Austria and the Volksparkfest – the HSV summer schedule

The Rothosen have two training camps scheduled for the summer break as part of preparation for the 2017/18 Bundesliga season.

The players have around five weeks left to relax and recover from the season just-ended. That all ends on July 6 as they report back to training to undergo fitness and lactate tests. From July 9th to 13th the Rothosen will set up a training camp at nearby Rothenburg, where they stayed twice to prepare for crucial Bundesliga games at the end of the season. The "Hotel Landhaus Wachtelhof" will become home for a few days. The early sessions will as usual focus on fitness and stamina levels. There follows a week of tough training at the Volksparkstadion before the Hamburg posse leaves town once again. This time they head to Austria – Leogang to be exact. There they will hold a training camp from July 22 until August 1. Five days later (August 6) there will be fun for all the family at the club’s season-opening Volksparkfest event held at the stadium in Hamburg. The highlight is the game between HSV and Spanish top flight side Espanyol Barcelona. The much-anticipated friendly kicks off at 3.00 PM. The real action begins in earnest at some time during the weekend of August 11 – 14. That is when the first round matches of the 2017/18 DFB Cup are to be played. Exact dates and kick off times have yet to be released. The new Bundesliga season starts on the weekend of August 18 – 20. Exact details for matchday 1 will be released on June 29.
