Rothosen begin pre-season with performance tests
The HSV first-team squad are undergoing assessments at the start of pre-season, with new signing Kofi Amoako and permanent addition Albert Grønbæk among those involved.
Back from the summer break, the HSV players are returning to work 51 days after the final Bundesliga matchday in Leverkusen. Preparations for the new season are getting under way, but before the Rothosen step back out onto the training pitch and kick a ball, the usual performance testing comes first. On Monday and Tuesday (6th/7th July), the players will be put through medical and physical assessments at the Athleticum am Volkspark. As well as medical checks, the schedule includes jumping, strength and speed tests.

New signing Kofi Amoako (photo) is among those involved, as is Albert Grønbæk, whose move has been made permanent following his loan spell. World Cup participants Miro Muheim and Sander Tangvik are absent, however, as is Otto Stange, who is away with Germany’s U19s at the European Championship. Nicolas Capaldo, who was on international duty after the end of the season, will link back up with the squad on Thursday (9th July), by which point the team will already be in Denmark.
After the performance tests, the Rothosen will head to their training camp on the Danish coast on Wednesday (8th July), where they will return to the pitch. They will hold their first training session at the Volkspark next Monday (13th July). Full details on pre-season, the training camps and the friendlies can be found in HSV’s summer schedule.
