Ruptured tendon: Mavraj out for several weeks

Bitter diagnosis for Mergim Mavraj. The gritty central defender will be out of action for several weeks after rupturing a tendon in the 1-2 DFB Cup defeat at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach earlier in the week.

The Albanian defender ruptured a tendon in his left knee and has been sidelined for several weeks. The diagnosis was made in Hamburg on Thursday (03.02). HSV coach Markus Gisdol: “It is bitter news for us and another bit of bad news from what has been a poor week. We hope to welcome him back sooner rather than later.” Mavraj picked up the injury in his side’s 1-2 DFB Cup quarter final defeat at home to Gladbach. His training programme has been adjusted to accommodate the injury. It is not yet known when he will be able to full train again.
