Sambi Lokonga injury update
The 26-year-old midfielder suffered a lateral ankle ligament tear and will be sidelined for a few weeks.
Hamburger SV will be unable to call upon Albert Sambi Lokonga for the time being, as the 26-year-old midfielder has torn the lateral ligament in his left ankle. The extent of the injury was ascertained on Monday (9th February) through detailed medical examinations including an MRI at the Athleticum at the Volkspark. The Belgian, who appeared to pick up an injury following a tackle in the 2-0 win away at Heidenheim and had to be substituted off at half time, was relatively lucky in terms of the extent of the damage and will only miss a few weeks of football.
The two-time Belgium international, who joined HSV from Arsenal FC in the summer, has been one of the most successful transfers in the Bundesliga this season. Sambi Lokonga has played in 16 of 18 possible games so far, picking up 13 starts and scoring four goals along the way. Everyone at HSV wishes Sambi a full and speedy recovery!
