Sander Tangvik named in Norway’s World Cup squad
The 23-year-old HSV goalkeeper has been named in Norway’s squad for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
After his impressive HSV debut, the next career highlight has quickly followed for Sander Tangvik: the goalkeeper has been called up as part of Norway’s 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. At the tournament, which runs from 11th June to 19th July, the “Lions” will face Iraq, Senegal and France in Group I.
The 23-year-old had only been called up once before, for the internationals last November. He was on the bench for the 4-1 wins over Estonia and Italy in World Cup qualifying, meaning he is still waiting for his first senior appearance. Tangvik has represented his country at every age level from U15 upwards.
The Trondheim native joined the Rothosen from Rosenborg BK last winter. He made his HSV debut on the final day of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season in the 1-1 draw away to Leverkusen. The 1.93-metre-tall goalkeeper shone by saving a penalty, making seven stops in total.
Congratulations on your World Cup call-up and best of luck, Sander!
