Show our strengths with fans’ support

Ahead of the crucial home clash with SC Freiburg, head coach Christian Titz spoke about the squad news, the strategy for the game and the support of the fans.

After defeat last weekend in Hoffenheim, Hamburger SV have another crunch match on the horizon. On Saturday afternoon, the Rothosen face Sport-Club Freiburg and nothing less than a win will do. HSV head coach Christian Titz knows that too. The 47-year-old coach continues to believe in the club’s fight against relegation: “With a win against Freiburg we can continue our fight against relegation.”

The head coach also spoke in the press conference about…

… squad update: Josha Vagnoman has a knee problem. It’s no secret that I see him as a very good player. I would like to see him play in the Bundesliga as he has the quality to do so. We’ll have to see if he can train tomorrow. We’re prepared regardless and have alternatives in his position.

… the strategy for the game: In our situation, we don’t have much choice. Our plan is clear: We want to believe in our own strengths. We want to continue to be aggressive and energetic. We need to move the ball quickly and create chances in front of goal. That’ll be decisive.

… the likelihood of a win on Saturday: I believe we have a realistic chance of winning on Saturday. We’ll give our all to narrow the points gap. We want to keep fighting relegation and to do that we need to win.

… the coming opposition: In Freiburg, we’re playing against a team who, if we beat, we can close the gap to them to five points. It’s a very important game. Anything can happen. Freiburg are also fighting for their spot in the table.

… the fans’ support: A great compliment to our fans. I was amazed by their support in Hoffenheim after the game. It’ll be important that they get behind us and help the team. We need them as the twelfth man on Saturday afternoon.
