Silvan Hefti completes move to the USA
The 28-year-old leaves Hamburger SV after making 20 competitive appearances for the club, joining Major League Soccer side D.C. United.
After around a year-and-a-half in Hamburg, Silvan Hefti is leaving HSV. The 28-year-old has completed a move to Washington D.C. based club D.C. United, joining the side shortly before the beginning of this year’s Major League Soccer season towards the end of February. “As a result of the strong competition in the right-back department at HSV, it hasn’t been easy for Silvan to enjoy too many minutes on the pitch this season. For this reason, a change of scenery makes sense for everybody involved. We would like to thank Silvan for his contribution to HSV, in particular for the role he played in the club’s successful promotion push last year. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours,” said director of football Claus Costa.
The full-back joined HSV in August 2024 from Italian first-division side Genoa CFC and went on to make 20 competitive appearances for the club, all of which came in the 2024/25 season, scoring one goal and providing one assist along the way. “Even if I’ve only been at HSV for a relatively short period of time, I’ll always look back positively on my 18 months here. Above all, achieving promotion last year is something I won’t be forgetting any time soon. I’ve experienced a number of amazing moments, for which I’m extremely grateful. I wish the club and the incredible supporters here all the best, and I hope that the team can achieve their goal of staying up this season,” said Hefti on his departure.
