Squad update ahead of trip to Stuttgart
The Rothosen began their preparations for this weekend’s away game against VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday, with Bakery Jatta making his full return to team training.
Echoes of the celebrations following Fabio Vieira’s stoppage-time winner against VfB Stuttgart last November can still be heard around the Volksparkstadion. Four months on, the Rothosen prepare to do battle with the Swabians once more this coming Sunday (12th April). Head coach Merlin Polzin’s aim is to at least take some points off the Champions League hopefuls and, ideally, get another win over them.
“We want to build on our performance in the reverse fixture. We’re looking forward to facing a top side, as well as the opportunity to prove ourselves again. VfB Stuttgart are a fantastic team with great individual talent, who are really making a name for themselves in Europe. It will be a tough test for us,” said sporting director Claus Costa.

Bakery Jatta back in full training
Bakery Jatta completed the whole of the roughly one-hour session on Tuesday, having suffered a thigh injury in the 1-0 loss to Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the beginning of March. Captain Yussuf Poulsen (thigh injury) was able to work with the ball again for the first time, but will continue to train individually with rehabilitation coach Sebastian Capel. Jean-Luc Dompe (foot) and Nicolas Capaldo (abdominal muscle) also trained by themselves. Alexander Rössing-Lelesit is still recovering from a syndesmosis tear, while Hannes Hermann sat out due to an eye infection.
